Every fitness enthusiast understands and accepts this wholeheartedly. The idea that out of suffering comes a better body, mind and may be increased agility. Ability to stay longer and stronger…
What we may not do consciously is applying the same understanding to business. In business, we tend to focus on breathless expansion that we fail to prepare for the pain that will inevitably come as part of the package.
When planning on expansion or change, resistance to change is inevitable. There will be two kinds – active resisters who act in enmity and passive resistors who mentally fold their arms and say ‘not me’.
With growth comes the need to delegate more and micro-manage less, so it is natural to feel a sense of losing grip on own business. Failing to deal with that pain will distance the gain, which is one key contributor for stalling progress of many small & family businesses and small units within large business houses as well.
It is not good to stand up and tell people they have to change or it will become personal. Instead starting by explaining the change and its benefit is the best practice that will lead to recruiting more change catalysts amongst the crowd!
If you have a great idea, do take the pain to explain, recruit and expand change agents to gain!
