Treading Luck!

September 8, 2012

Three partners of a start-up were describing how they really fell short of creating a big win for themselves by short-selling. What was interesting is to see the diligence with which they distilled the learning from that instance and integrated the whole thing into their ways of working!

They have even created a monument of sorts and staged it in the middle of their “war room”! The idea is to keep the event as a torch light in the darkness of finding a winning shot! Positivity this is generating and showing up in the results of their current journey, reinforces the point that they have got the grip of treading luck in their favor!

Lucky people generate their own good fortune via four basic principles.

They are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities, make lucky decisions by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling prophesies via positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good.

Obsolescence – Find & Replace!

June 27, 2012

Conventional Wisdom:

Obsolescence is inevitable for a number of reasons. Product lifecycles of components are much shorter than the products in which they are used. This is especially true for long-lifecycle or complex products such as automotive, medical, aerospace, or telecommunications equipment that use once-current, but now-outdated, components.

Obsolescence Management solves some of the problems associated with sustainability.

Now, a small exercise…

In the above wisdom, Find & Replace “product” with “company”, “component” with “yourself”; “complex” with “people based industry = IT/ITES”! and “automotive,…. equipment” with company names you like!

=> scary?

If so,

Replace “Obsolescence Management” with “Self renewal”

=> stay current, be relevant and fight obsolescence!
