Turning your customers to competition…

Is a courageous task. Especially for a small enterprise in a crowded market place. Smart entrepreneurs who respect their business and the customers, choose to act this way and reinforce the relationship.

Had a nice experience today….

When I called up my regular service provider for an appointment, here is what the lady did…

“Sir, we have closed our workshop for renovation. It might take at least another 3-4 weeks for us to get it in shape. We know it is important for you to have the vehicle serviced on schedule. For this time, can you please visit our competition? We will call and provide the history of the service till date and instruct the service manager there to carryout the prescribed steps. They have a good facility, trained staff and all necessary things to take care of you and your car. Please use them this time. Once our shop is ready, we will let you know and would be eagerly waiting for you.”

Within next 10 mins, I did get a call from their competition and had the car picked up. The guy showed up with complete service history and prescription for the current round.

It was a pleasant surprise. Though this service from the competition is very good, I know where I will go next time and a back-up in case of need.
