Eagerness to know things first hand, is a motivation for some of us. Flying on the surface of work and not touching it or not even being touched by it is a tough one for me to comprehend. We have all seen some super successful people who seem to sail through everything they face. They also seem to change jobs, job profiles and even work focus so dynamically, without leaving any trace of the past hitting them. They seem to enjoy every bit of work they do. But at the same time, carry no residue further.
Every time they pick up the new one, it seems that it was their own home. They are just visiting it now. How do they really do it? Isn’t it nice to have this quality ingrained in every key employee you hire? or at least, find a way to get it for yourself? One answer we get is that these folks are smart. They work smarter… not harder! Is it really true? If we go behind the way these folks work, we get a closer picture of their success ingredients.
We carried out a simple survey of around 158 successful game changers in the crowd – folks working in IT industry for over 15 yrs and donned at least 4 or more variety of job functions mostly loosely connected to one another. One major finding – “Preparation” is a golden key to their success. They use a variety of means to prepare to outperform. They come across as smart people, being the best at what they do – by how they bring themselves to the playground. Here is a snapshot of the finding:
