Let there be disorder!

February 2, 2011

A man offered to pay a sum of money to his twelve-year-old daughter if she mowed the lawn. The girl went at the task with great zest and by evening the whole lawn had been beautifully mowed – well, everything except a large uncut patch of grass in one corner!

When the man said he couldn’t pay the sum agreed upon because the whole lawn hadn’t been mowed, the girl said she was ready to forego the money, but would not cut the grass in the patch!

Curious to find out why, he checked the uncut patch. There, right in the centre of the patch, sat a large toad. The girl had been too tender-hearted to run over it with the lawn-mower.

Where there is love, there is disorder.

Perfect order would make the world a graveyard!

Here and Now!

December 31, 2010

A lover pressed his suit unsuccessfully for many months, suffering the atrocious pains of rejection. Finally his sweetheart yielded. “Come to the park, at 6:00 PM”, she said.

So the lover finally found himself seated beside his beloved. He pulled out a sheaf of love letters that he had written to her over the months. They were passionate expression of pain and burning desire. He began to read them aloud. The minute passed and he read on and on…

Finally the woman burst out, “What kind of a blockhead are you? Those letters tell of your longing. Well, here I am with you at last, and you are lost in your ludicrous letters.”

“Here I am with you”,  and “you keep thinking of me in your head, talking of me with your tongue, and searching for me in your books”. “When will you start living with me?”…..

Here is 2011 already with us…. Good to start living a great life this year and beyond…. Here and Now!

Welcome 2011!

The Explorer!

December 29, 2010

It was interesting to watch many, so called experts/authors & teachers perform – on the subject of entrepreneurship – with good narration of – what, when & how of the art of running a successful business.

The show was later captivated by a guest speaker, who narrated his experience of failing in 5 attempts and making 1 big successful business… While checking with participants of this EDP workshop, it became very clear that they had got the food they came for…but not the taste of it!

The explorer returned to his people, who were eager to know about the Amazon. But how could he ever put into words the feelings that flooded his heart when he saw exotic flowers and heard the night-sounds of the forests; when he sensed the danger of wild beasts or paddled his canoe over treacherous rapids?

He said, “Go and find out for yourselves.” To guide them he drew a map of the river. They pounced upon the map. They framed it in their Town Hall. They made copies of it for themselves. And all who had a copy considered themselves experts on the river, for did they not know its every turn and bend, how broad it was, how deep, where the rapids were and where the falls?       (~Anthony De Mello)

There is no shortcut to experience! Instead, there is a great danger drawing maps for arm-chair explorers!

Go… be a real one!
