In waters vast, deep, and earthy?
Surrounded by all it could desire,
Why leap toward the hook’s cruel fire?
Is it hunger, a pang so raw?
Or the want of more, a fatal flaw?
What pulls us out, what draws us in,
The endless dance of loss and win.
Have we not all we ever need?
Yet still, we chase, we ache, we plead.
Like the fish, we swim, we yearn, we stray,
When the world is enough, right where we stay.
